Step 4
Search engines prefer small webpages. Try to limit the page under 20K, under 10K is even better. We even presume that you pay less for Google Adwords if the landingpage has a low loading time. Use the possibilities of e.g. Photoshop to leave out certain colours in logo's or photo's. Delete HTML code in your webpage that has no meaning and avoid moving images when you enter the website.
User our Free Website Analyzer to test the loading time of your page and make improvements. Use the checklist to make the right changes right away:
- Make fewer HTTP requests
- Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN)
- Add Expires headers
- Compress components with gzip
- Put CSS at top
- Put JavaScript at bottom
- Avoid CSS expressions
- /AMake JavaScript and CSS external
- Reduce DNS lookups
- Avoid URL redirects
- Make AJAX cacheable
- Avoid HTTP 404 (Not Found) error
- Do not scale images in HTML
- Make favicon small and cacheable
Learn from a website like Google. Their first page will load within 0.1 seconds. That is fast! The first page of this website with a lot of text and images will load within 0.2 seconds. Still very fast and that is what your goal should be.
Remember our example of the search engine Google, clean and simple, it's just 9k...
